Car Tracing - As Real As Possible !

Posted by Ngô Anh Khoa

Okey, the last entry i have shown my old work that i did 10 months ago. This time i will show the most recent works of myself: Tracing car, again. Hehe. Because this is the second time I do the tracing so i have some experience and technique to make the car more realistic and speed up the tracing process. I still not use (and cannot use) the Mesh Tool in this work. :)). I always hope that i can control this tool. But still impossible...

This is the original image that i searched by Google. It the Aston Martin AMV10 Concept. Just an idea that Aston Martin's designers created, not ready to serial produce.

And this is my final work, can you realize which car is the real one? Hehe

Next is the car outline. I am sure that you will realize that my outline is really messy. But that is one of my techniques.

The last part, i will share you some of my experiences to speed up the tracing process.
  1. I traced the car part-by-part. I am not drawing the whole car's outline and then filling the color because i realize that when drawing all the car outline, you will get difficult to find which layers that you need to work with. (experience from the first work. Hehe)
  2. Trace the parts that most near your eye and then trace other layers under the first layer and so on.
  3. Break the large part into pieces if you want to make a complicated gradient. In this case, i cut 1 large part into 2 pieces so i could create 2 different gradient. (This should easier if you know how to use Mesh Tool :D)
That all my experiences that i want to share. Thanks and enjoy my work ^_^

Fact:
  • I did this in just 3 day with nearly 10 hours/ day (Faster than the last time. Keke)
  • It has total 28 layers (Layers mean n0thing :D)

nothing to say but perfect. Besides there are some details not as same as in the real car that i can spot out, however that can be considered creativity. really kul. i love it

Beautiful work! Most realistic rendering I've seen yet. Nice job!

Hey can I use that trace design for a t-shirt for my company? We make car videos - autostream.com.

Let me know! Thanks!
